The symposium will be convened in plenary sessions composed of 12 minutes oral presentations plus 3 more minutes for questions and poster sessions.

There will be an opening conference on Monday 6 September at 10.15 h. given by Dr. Sigurd von Boletzky. The title of his presentation is “Cephalopod embryology: a review”.

There will be also a closing conference on Friday 10 September at 18.00 h given by Dr. Paul G. Rodhouse. The title of his presentation is “Relationships between ambient and ecology of cephalopods”.

The symposium will be preceded (3-4 September) by three workshops:

i)                    Recent advances in age, growth and production estimations in cephalopods

ii)                   Cephalopod trophic relationships

iii)                 Review of the ecology of cephalopod pelagic wild paralarvae

iv)                 "Assessment of cephalopod species for inclusion in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species"

The workshops will comprise of round table discussions and oral presentations on each issue.

An additional workshop on "Assessment of cephalopod species for inclusion in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species" will be held within the 2009 meeting under the umbrella of CIAC and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).

The date for this workshop is Sunday 6th September. Time schedule is 10.00-13.30 - Lunch time- 15.00-18.00.
