Climate

Galicias situation on the Atlantic seaboard means that its climate is rather wet, although given its position to the south of Europe it is also warm. Rainfall is high, but is also accompanied by many sunny spells, a combination which explains the greenness of its landscape and the abundance of woods and rivers. Much of the land is formed of hills and mountains in whose many valleys agriculture is the principal activity. Between March and October the average temperatures range from 10ºc to 25 or 27ºc. A further characteristic are the light showers that make the countryside so green, and have given rise to the saying that In Santiago de Compostela rain is art.
